Artist's Inspiration

The Acropolis of Athens is a place I could go again and again. Every time is different and it looks incredible in all kinds of weather conditions. I had a huge canvas and felt that this timeless wonder of the world would be the perfect subject for it.

It had been snowing all over Greece so I made a painting to study this weather effect. There is something spectacular about seeing the Sacred Rock covered in snow. Especially at first light, early in the morning. Here is a haiku I wrote for the painting: “At the ancient citadel A rare occurrence. Early morning snow.”
