Έμπνευση Καλλιτέχνη
What I loved about Milos was the many sea caves and the way the white volcanic rock contrasted with the light blue of the sky and the crystal-clear turquoise water of the Aegean Sea. This painting is about the sea's power, constantly eroding and shaping these inlets. Interestingly, these caves were used by Saracen pirates to hide their ships back around the 6th century. That’s where the area gets its name, Σαρακήνικο, which means Saracen in Greek. Unfortunately, these coves provided a perfect hideout for them to ambush merchant ships. I hope that you like this piece! If you do, please let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
